Thriving During COVID Webinar Sept 16th!

September 16, 2020

11:00am – 12:00pm PDT

This past April, The National Institute on Aging called attention to research which links severe health risks for older people due to loneliness and depression. Some of these health risks include high blood pressure, heart disease, anxiety, depression, cognitive decline, Alzheimer’s disease, and even death.

In response to this growing dilemma, Orla Concannon, CEO & Founder of Eldergrow, Kristine Theurer PhD, Founder & President of Java Group Programs, and Certified Dementia Practitioner, Brenda Gurung, have teamed up to present a timely and needed webinar on how to support elders who are battling loneliness and social isolation during COVID.

This free webinar, “Thriving During COVID: 12 Ways to Help Older Adults With Loneliness and Depression,” will address the negative impact of COVID-19 and its social distancing safety guidelines on older adults. Senior living residents have been unable to freely socialize, visit with loved ones, and largely been unable to go outdoors. As a result, cases of acute depression and anxiety have escalated. It is for this reason that these three organizations have come together to present on the best tactics and tools, within senior living and beyond, of how to combat this uniquely difficult situation.

The upcoming webinar will be held on Wednesday, September 16th from 11-12 noon PDT. Senior living professionals, caregivers, and loved ones will benefit from this enlightening webinar.

As experts within the senior living field, the presenters will give a total of 12 practical takeaways on how to approach this growing issue of depression and loneliness among older adults that will support senior living professionals and loved ones. The takeaways will span from the innovative field of gardening and nature therapy to impactful peer support interventions, with an emphasis on communication and connection.

“Our goal is to provide proven tactics that will help in our older adults during the COVID era,” says Orla Concannon on this upcoming webinar, “Now, more than ever, we need to be there for our elders and there are scientifically proven tools that can help address this dilemma.”
